Biodidact

OUR STORY, OUR MISSION

The Community Lab started over 5 years ago as a small citizen science lab and local biotech company, doing business as "Biodidact" in Los Alamos, NM.

While we are mainly a Research and Development organization, developing our own technology, we serve a variety of organizations, from start-ups to larger institutions through outsourcing services, collaborations and training opportunities.

We quickly realized there was a need for more hands-on professional training in our community and decided to also leverage our capabilities for educational purposes.

As we were developing our nanotechnology capabilities, we took advantage of our community's diverse set of expertise to foster innovation and nurture problem-solving skills by sponsoring a community makerspace, Los Alamos Makers, where students, experts and hobbyists learn and brainstorm solutions to problems they care about.

Los Alamos Makers has progressively grown to be a mini community incubator where various people try out their ideas, get feedback and advice on their prototypes and learn basic modern manufacturing techniques. We are very proud of the diversity of our maker community and the peer mentoring that goes on.

Technology with a mission!

Our mission is to promote and nurture sustainable innovation, while helping educate our community and provide meaningful and effective workforce development.

The Community Lab is a 100% Woman-Owned Small Business.
